Rev. David Tolhurst

David was born in the South East of England, but has lived in the North East for some years now and feels rooted and grounded here. Before being invited to become the twelfth Vicar of Silksworth back in October 2012 David served the parishes of Sadberge and Middleton St George near Darlington as Curate. David was Ordained at Durham Cathedral in 2009 by The Reverend Tom Wright, Bishop of Durham after studying theology at Durham University. Prior to ordination David was a manager in the public sector for 15 years. David’s has a passion and vision for education in the Church of England actively supporting our local Church of England schools and community schools. David is also Area Dean of Wearmouth and is a member of the Church of England’s General Synod.
